The Bearded Pig was founded in 2016 by Chad Munsey and Michael Schmidt with one simple goal: serve the best BBQ, period. Inspired by the legendary barbecue rituals of Texas and the Carolinas, they set out to create a place where barbecue traditions rule, shortcuts don't exist, and every guest feels right at home.
Originally located at 1224 Kings Avenue in Jacksonville's historic San Marco neighborhood, The Bearded Pig transformed a modest 2,000-square-foot building from the 1940s into one of the city's favorite barbecue destinations. As our BBQ joint grew, so did our vision. In August 2021, we moved just four blocks down the road to our new, thoughtfully equipped home at 1808 Kings Avenue.
Today, guests can enjoy our dual-sided bar with a roll-up window, covered and open-air patios that capture the feel of a backyard summer picnic, multiple TVs perfect for Jaguar Sundays, and a grassy lawn with an outdoor chalkboard where kids (and kids at heart) can create their next masterpiece.
Beloved for our San Marco vibe, dry-rubbed meats, show-stealing Southern sides, and full bar, The Bearded Pig remains committed to the same mission it started with: serving authentic Southern barbecue and genuine hospitality, all while providing a space where everyone can gather over great food and cold drinks.
